small German town of Schmallenberg, but winters there were too cold and snowy for roofing work, so he took up knitting socks as a side job to get through the season. He liked it enough, and saw enough potential in it, that in 1895 he started his own knitting business, producing just two dozen pairs of socks a day. Nearly 130 years later, Falke is still run by the same family, now in its fourth generation, and has grown into one of the world's most respected names in socks and hosiery.

Socks Built Differently for Left and Right Feet

One thing that genuinely sets Falke apart: most sock brands make a symmetrical, round-toed sock and call it done. Falke builds truly ergonomic socks, shaped differently for the left foot and the right foot, following the natural angle of the arch instead of a generic round shape. It sounds like a small detail, but it's a big part of why Falke socks tend to fit more precisely than a standard pair.

Every Sock Passes Through Real Hands

Even with modern knitting machines doing most of the work, every pair still passes through the hands of skilled workers for finishing and quality checks before it's done. That combination, machine precision plus hand-finishing, is part of why Falke has stayed known for quality even as the company has grown into a much bigger operation.

A Loose Cuff for Sensitive Legs

The Sensitive London line uses a soft, non-elastic cuff instead of a standard tight sock band, a real help for anyone who finds regular socks too tight around the ankle or calf, whether that's for comfort or circulation reasons.

Built to Breathe or Built to Keep You Warm

Active Breeze is designed with ventilation zones to keep feet cool during warm weather or activity, while Cosy Wool Cashmere goes the opposite direction, a soft wool and cashmere blend built for warmth rather than performance. Cotton Touch sits in between, a simple everyday option for anyone who doesn't need either extreme.

A Sizing Note

Falke sizing follows European conventions, so it's worth double-checking the size chart on each product rather than assuming it matches standard US sizing exactly.
